On the morning of January 26, the temperature dropped to a record low of 15.8 degrees Celsius. In February, however, the normal temperature ranges from 20 to 31 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila. If you are feeling warm while on vacation in Manila, take the time to consider going out of town and seeing more of these other relaxing places in the Philippines.
1. Baguio City, Benguet
Temperature Range: 10 to 26 degrees Celsius
Baguio City is still the most famous spot in the Philippines for cool weather. The pine trees also add some aroma to the chilly air. People often go to Camp John Hay for hiking and ziplining, shop at the outlet malls scattered throughout Baguio, and visit the BenCab museum to admire the artwork of a Philippine great.

Sagada lies within the aptly named Mountain Province. It is a city most famous for its mountains, which are good for potential hikers. One recommended hiking trail is Echo Valley. In Echo Valley, screaming and shouting are encouraged. Some might to quiet it down around the Hanging Coffins – where the dead are buried in coffins hanging from the cliff of the mountain.
From Baguio, do not miss to visit Sagada. It is advisable to go there when the sun is up, and leave the place in mid afternoon at around 2:00 p.m. Its best to leave Baguio proper at around 4:00 a.m. to have time going around Sagada.
3. Baler, Aurora
Temperature Range: 17 to 30 degrees.
The first President of the Philippine Commonwealth, Manuel Quezon and his First Lady, Aurora Quezon hailed from this coastal town. The town is often described as a “surfer’s paradise” in the Philippines. Waves can reach up to nine feet high. The beach also provides a family with many activities such as sandcastle making, seashell hunting, and wading on the safer side of the shore.
Baler is in Ilocos, mid – east of Luzon.
Internationally, it is seen in the film Apocalypse Now directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
Baler Aurora is further popularized locally in the movie “BALER” which has won awards in the 2008 Film Festival in the Philippines.
4. Tagaytay, Cavite
Temperature Range: 18 to 31 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay is home to Taal Lake, the lake simultaneously inside and outside Taal Caldera, a volcanic crater. Aside from marvelling at this natural wonder, tourists may row on the lake. You may also have a picnic, ride a horse, or go ziplining at Tagaytay’s Picnic Grove. For tourists who are looking for a spiritual experience, the Pink Sisters Convent is also in Tagaytay, and you may pray with the nuns.

5. Santa Rosa, Laguna
Temperature Range: 19 to 33 degrees Celsius
While shopping in Paseo de Santa Rosa, one of Laguna’s finest outlet malls, you may enjoy the cool breeze. Afterwards, you can dine at places you may find in Metro Manila. Santa Rosa has the urban lifestyle, only more environmentally friendly. Where in Metro Manila can you find that many trees and wide open picnic space? For those in love with the past, however, Santa Rosa boasts many Spanish era houses.
Santa Rosa Laguna is also famous for Enchanted Kingdom, where you can find lots of happy things for the children and the family.
If you will be staying at the vacation rentals in Novaliches, Quezon City, best to leave at around 5:45 a.m. to get to SCLEX through UP Diliman using CP Garcia Road then turn left to Katipunan.
